Senate panel advances financial nominations

The Senate Banking Committee voted to advance several nominations out of committee:

  • Jonathan Gould to be comptroller of the currency by a vote of 13-11.

  • Paul Atkins to be a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission by a vote of 13-11.

  • Luke Pettit to be an assistant secretary for financial institutions at the Treasury Department by a vote of 19-5.

Next Step: The nominations will go to the full Senate for final confirmation.
