Biden taps Goldsmith Romero to lead FDIC

President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Christy Goldsmith Romero as chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Background: Goldsmith Romero has served as a commissioner at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission since March 2022. She previously served for 12 years at the Treasury Department, including a decade as the special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program.

The White House also nominated:

  • Kristin Johnson as assistant secretary for financial institutions at the Treasury Department.

  • Caroline Crenshaw as a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

  • Gordon Ito as a member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council.
