House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) called for a transcribed interview with FDIC Chairman Martin Gruenberg after Gruenberg refused to testify at a planned hearing on FDIC workplace misconduct.

Details: In a letter, McHenry said Gruenberg declined to attend a hearing planned for next week. McHenry gave Gruenberg until Sept. 30 to conduct the interview.

Background: A Cleary Gottlieb independent review released in April found the FDIC failed to provide a workplace safe from misconduct and that management’s responses have been insufficient. Gruenberg said in May that he would step down once a successor is confirmed.
