February 2021 - Online Training Newsletter

Feb. 25, 2021

Soft skills are the predominant reason that people are promoted or fired, yet very little formal training is focused on soft skill development.

When soft skills are not prioritized in hiring or employee development, a soft skills gap can develop leading to high turnover, poor customer retention, and ineffective management. Soft skills also improve employee performance and productivity across the board.

When staffers are better at communication, projects and tasks are completed faster and more accurately without compromising quality. ICBA’s Community Banker University recognizes these facts which is why we include many soft skills courses in our full online training catalog.

Please be sure to look through the catalog and develop a training program for your employees that includes some of these soft skills courses.

What’s Coming?

We are in the process of updating all our Bank Secrecy Act courses. Some course titles will require you to unenroll employees from the existing course and re-enroll them in the new course and other titles will automatically update with the new content. Take a look at the “What’s New” tab on regular basis to see the date updated courses are set to launch and upcoming newsletters.

Did You Know?

Did you know that web browsers such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox make software updates on a frequent basis without making the bank’s IT staff aware of the changes?

Until your IT person(s) learn of the changes and update the bank's systems, the online training courses within the Online Training Center may not run properly. Because of the changes, checking your browser settings within the Online Training Center is not a one-time check and you’re good to go for the foreseeable future.

It is very important for you to inform your learners that they need to check the “Technical Assistance” button each and every time they log into the Online Training Center. You may provide them with the following instructions:

  • It is important that you check your browser setting each and every time you log into the Online Training Center to take your courses. To do this, take the following steps:
    • Log into the Online Training Center
    • Click on the Technical Assistance tab on the left
    • Ensure that “Your Status” has a green checkmark next to all three Options.
      • If there are any Red X’s, you must resolve them by going to your browser’s setting. If you need assistance resolving any red x’s, please contact your IT person or a Community Banker University team member.
