Online Course Newsletter – April 2025

April 24, 2025

Introduction

On April 6, 2025, the Online Course Learning Management System was upgraded. Now, when learners open a multi-module course, the first course will automatically launch. This includes certificate programs.

If the learner wants to see what other modules are in the course or see their progress/status in the program, they must click on the “hamburger/sandwich/menu” button in the upper left corner. A list of the modules inside the course or the courses inside the certificate program will appear along with the status of each.

Here is an example of the Audit Certificate Program in which all courses in Area 1 are complete and the learner is now on the first course in Area 2.

What’s New

  • On April 3, 2025, the “Appraisal Standards” course was updated to clarify the guidance related to the Independence of the Appraisal Program.

  • On April 3, 2025, the “Fair Debt Collection Practices Act” course was updated to include a note about state laws. It explains that banks should refer to their own state laws, as many states are starting to pass laws on commercial debt collection.

ICBA online courses focus on federal regulations, so details or separate courses on state laws are not included.

  • On April 7, 2025, the following Bank Secrecy Act courses were updated to remove reference to the Corporate Transparency Act of 2024 which required business entities to report their beneficial owners directly to FinCEN.

This requirement was removed on March 21, 2025. It’s business as usual for banks regarding beneficial ownership collection requirements.

    • BSA & Compliance Officers

    • Customer Due Diligence and Beneficial Ownership

    • Lenders & Loan Operations

    • Overview for All Personnel

Did You Know?

Did you know there are reports available to show course completion details if you enroll your employees in the Required Regulatory Course Bundles?

From the “Administration” tab, click on the Report titled “Detailed Score Report for Required Regulatory Course Bundle Content.

From there, you must click the document icon to the right of the Bundle of choice to see the course completions for the required regulatory bundles courses. For example, click the document icon to the right of “Compliance Officer & Staff” if you have enrolled employees in the “Required Regulatory Bundle – Compliance Officer & Staff.”

Job Functions Chart

The report will display any of your employees who have completed a course or course(s) from that bundle. The report will not show the courses from that bundle that have not been completed by your employees.

You can export the report results to excel by clicking the Excel icon found in the upper left corner of the report screen.

ICBA Best Practices recommends you enroll your employees in each course rather than the bundle if you prefer to have all course details available to you by executing a single report.

Enroll your staff into the courses by using the option of “Assign Specific Employees to Specific Courses (most common)”, then select each course name rather than the Required Regulatory Course Bundle name.
