Kerri Walsh Jennings currently serves as the winningest female beach volleyball player in history with a total of 133 career wins. Her standard of excellence began even before her professional career. As the #1 volleyball recruit in the nation, Walsh Jennings attended Stanford University on a scholarship where she was selected as a first-team All-American four years in a row. This made her only the second player ever in the history of collegiate volleyball to accomplish this accolade.
After she graduated from Stanford with a B.A. in American Studies, she found her legendary teammate, Misty May-Treanor. The duo has been considered, “the greatest beach volleyball team of all time”. Together they won three straight FIVB World Championships in 2005, 2007, and 2009. Their domination didn’t stop there as they competed together in the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympics, securing gold medals at each. The two didn’t lose a single set during the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, reaching a total of 21 consecutive Olympic set wins.
In 2012, following the retirement of May-Treanor, Walsh Jennings teamed up with April Ross. Together, the new pair went on to win five gold medals during the 2016 FIVB Tour and in that same year, Walsh Jennings achieved her 100th team victory at the Rio Grand Slam. The pair made their Olympic debut in 2016, where after falling short to Brazil, they were able to win the bronze medal match. Walsh Jennings’ fourth Olympic medal makes her the most decorated beach volleyball player of both men and women in Olympic history.
Walsh Jennings currently resides in Manhattan Beach, CA with her husband, Casey Jennings, fellow professional beach volleyball player, and their three children. In 2004, Walsh Jennings founded the Chase the Stars Foundation that supports programs and events to directly improve the well-being, health, and quality of children’s lives. She also has existing partnerships with brands such as Lululemon and KT Tape.
