After a restful 4th of July week, we were excited to return to a full week of exciting activities. We kicked off the week with a volunteer activity at Food and Friends, a local social services organization that prepares, packages, and delivers medically tailored meals.

On Wednesday, at our HR Meeting, we discussed plans for our Final Presentation which will take place at the start of August. We had our Senior Leadership Lunch with Lilly Thomas and were happily joined by Jenna Burke.

The weeks have seemingly flown by and we cannot believe that we are already more than halfway through our summer internship. Time flies by when you are having fun, and we will continue to embrace and savor our ICBA experiences.

Interns Meeting 2024-4
We had the pleasure of talking to Lilly Thomas, EVP Regulatory Relations & Strategy, and Jenna Burke, EVP General Counsel Government Relations & Public Policy. We took part in discussions about policies, interesting cases, and overall life transitions. We also received advice on the differences between waiting or going straight to graduate school after undergraduate. We learned about their background in law, navigating the twists and turns along the way, and ultimately demonstrating that career paths are unique and meaningful.

On Monday, we participated in a volunteer activity at Food and Friends. Food and Friends is an organization that provides home-delivered, healthy meals in the DC area. They deliver more than 4,000 meals a day and have had a huge impact on this community since they were founded in 1988.

It was an incredible experience being able to pack meals as a group, and we had so much fun while making an impact. We thank Alice, Raymond, and Laura for their guidance and hospitality, as well as Susan and Humaira for accompanying us. This volunteer activity really showcased the ICBA core values of being Caring and Connected.

About Me:

I am currently a rising junior at the University of Georgia with a major in Management Information Systems (MIS) and a minor in Spanish. I am also currently applying for a certification in Fintech. I am involved in the SMIS (Society for Management Information Systems) as a member as well. This is not my first internship, but so far, it is definitely my favorite (I'm not just saying that!). I have enjoyed meeting everyone across the various departments and offices and learning more about what ICBA does. In my free time, I like to play golf and ride motorcycles. Yes, motorcycles! I'm happy to send you pictures.

Favorite part so far:

Something that I have learned so far is how important innovation is within the community banking space. It's inspiring to see the work that goes on here and how it truly makes a difference in the industry. This department is incredible, and it has been amazing and a pleasure getting to know everyone and how we all work together. Working with the right people really does just make the job that much better. I look forward for what's to come in the next few weeks!
