ICBA Commends Agencies for Joint Statement on Core Providers

September 11, 2026 / By ICBA

Washington, D.C. (Sept. 11, 2026) — Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey issued the following statement on today’s joint statement from the federal banking regulators on community bank engagement with core service providers.

“ICBA and the nation’s community banks commend the banking regulators for today’s joint statement addressing issues with community bank relationships with core service providers. While we continue to review the statement, its emphasis on holding the cores accountable for delivering quality services is critical to community bank third-party relationships.

“As ICBA said in our comments to the OCC on this initiative earlier this year, facilitating shared due diligence, improving access to relevant supervisory information about service providers, and ensuring more consistent oversight could significantly reduce duplication, lower compliance costs, and improve community banks’ ability to negotiate and manage third-party relationships.

“We look forward to fully reviewing today’s joint statement and continuing to work with the federal banking regulators on core provider issues, third-party risk management, and other critical issues facing community banks.”
