ICBA is urging community bankers to call their members of Congress to urge inclusion of an emergency farm aid package in a final funding bill when Congress approves a continuing resolution, or CR.
Latest Developments: The first vote on a revised Republican proposal failed to reach the two-thirds majority support required under House procedures. Congress will need to eventually pass a CR to address a possible government shutdown, which could begin this weekend.
Key Provisions:
Congress is considering passing a one-year extension of the farm bill and emergency economic aid for farmers and ranchers in addition to disaster aid for recent hurricane and weather-related losses,
ICBA strongly supports the farm aid as an essential complement to an extension of the farm bill.
Grassroots Calls: ICBA is encouraging community bankers to contact their members of Congress via the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121.
