ICBA this week is launching a survey on the value of community banks, small-business lending, and the regulatory environment. The survey will inform a forthcoming ICBA report on the impact of recent regulatory changes, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Section 1071 rulemaking.
Details: In the coming days, ICBA community bankers will receive an email from Michael Emancipator through the Qualtrics survey platform. This email will include a customized link and instructions on how to complete the survey. Only one representative from each bank will receive the link, but the link can be shared so that multiple colleagues can enter and review responses.
Contact: Community bankers with questions can email ICBA Senior Vice President and Senior Regulatory Counsel Michael Emancipator.
ICBA pushing grassroots ahead of funding deadline
With Congress working this week to advance funding bills to avoid a government shutdown ahead of Friday’s deadline, ICBA is calling on community bankers to contact their members of Congress on pressing legislative issues.
Be Heard: Community bankers can use ICBA’s Be Heard grassroots action center to urge their members of Congress to:
Oppose a bill that would impose credit card routing restrictions.
Pass a resolution to block the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Section 1071 rule.
Support cannabis-banking legislation following its passage in the Senate Banking Committee.
ICBA issues high-level summary of FHLBank report
ICBA issued a high-level summary of last week’s Federal Housing Finance Agency report on the Federal Home Loan Banks.
ICBA Summary: The ICBA summary outlines the key FHFA actions that are most likely to affect community banks and ICBA’s views on the agency’s policy recommendations, which will likely lead to numerous rulemakings and potentially legislation.
ICBA Response: In a national news release last week, ICBA urged the FHFA to ensure it does not disrupt the FHLBs as an important source of liquidity for community banks.
