Succeeds longtime executive Linda Echard who retired
Washington, D.C. (July 11, 2016)— ICBA Bancard®, the payments-services subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), today named Chrystina Giorgio as president and CEO. She was appointed by unanimous decision of ICBA Bancard’s board of directors and succeeds Linda Echard, who served for 30 years as president and CEO and retired in June.
“Tina’s leadership experience in financial services coupled with her strategic thinking and expertise in emerging payments make her the right person to lead ICBA Bancard at this pivotal time in our industry,” said Noah Wilcox, ICBA Bancard chairman and chairman and CEO of $231 million-asset Grand Rapids State Bank in Grand Rapids, Minn.
Giorgio brings more than 25 years of payment systems experience, including more than 19 years at Sandy Spring Bank in Maryland, most recently as senior vice president, deposit operations and digital delivery. During her tenure at the bank, Giorgio held leadership roles in vendor management, marketing, and client services. She has also served on several boards and committees with the Federal Reserve, NACHA and other industry organizations.
Camden R. Fine, ICBA president and CEO and a former community banker, applauded Giorgio’s new role. “Tina is exceptionally well-qualified to be the next president and CEO of ICBA Bancard. Her record of accomplishment is impressive, and she brings the perspective of a community banker, so she understands what our members need to be competitive. We’re all excited to have her onboard.”
Giorgio holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland University College. In addition, she is a graduate of BAI’s Operations and Technology Management for Banking and Financial Services program at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
