December 2020 - Online Training Newsletter

Dec. 29, 2020

Introduction

The end of 2020 is here and so is the end of Adobe Flash! All Community Banker University courses have been converted out of Flash and into HTML so you should have no trouble launching courses come Jan. 1, 2021.

However, you may have noticed that our collection of Microsoft courses is no longer in the course catalog. These courses could not be converted out of Flash and we will not be offering them going forward. If you have employees currently enrolled in any of the Microsoft courses, they will be removed from their current enrollments on Dec. 31, 2020.

Microsoft offers free online training for all their products at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/training. We encourage you to use this training as an option for your staff going forward, if needed.

While many of us are ready to say goodbye to 2020 and are looking towards a brighter 2021, Community Banker University would like to send many thanks to our community bank online training subscribers and we wish you all a wonderful holiday season.

What’s New?

On December 22 we launched our updated military lending courses (Military Lending Act and Servicemembers Civil Relief Act). If you have employees currently enrolled in these two courses, they may continue to take them as the content is not incorrect, but we highly suggest you unenroll them and enroll them in the new versions.

The current versions will be marked as “Retired” on Jan. 4, 2021 and will not be maintained if the regulation changes.

Note: Custom Plan subscribers – you can upload your bank’s policies and procedures into these two courses.

What’s Coming?

  • The CFPB finalized an amendment to Regulation Z regarding the definitions of a Qualified Mortgage. We are currently working on updating the course content found in the following courses:
    • Regulation Z: Overview
    • Regulation Z: Ability to Repay and Qualified Mortgages
  • Five new Regulation E courses are being created and will be launched in late January or early February. These new courses break down the current Regulation E course into shorter, subject specific courses. There will be a course on disclosure requirements, error resolution and liability, overdraft, remittance transfers and an overview course. Courses on gift card and prepaid accounts will be coming later in 2021.
  • We will be updating all our Bank Secrecy Act courses in February 2021.

Did You Know?

Did you know that enrollment and completion reports are based on the “Enrollment Date”, not by the calendar or completion date? Therefore, when you are going into the Online Training Center at the end of the month or the beginning of January to pull your reports for 2020, be sure to remember when you enrolled your employees in the courses for 2020.

For some of you, you may have to go back to December 2019 as you were diligently preparing for 2021 and wanted to have the courses all ready for your staff Jan. 1, 2020.

If you have any questions about reports or need assistance, please reach out to Cathy Von Wahlde at 320-352-7337 or [email protected].
