With over 28 years of experience in bank and non-bank regulatory compliance, training, and financial institution program reviews and examinations, Mary Thorson has developed a broad and deep portfolio of technical expertise that spans consumer protection, lending, deposits, operations, privacy, third-party management, collections, and anti-money laundering/anti-terrorist financing laws and regulations.

Ms. Thorson's extensive and diverse experience includes managing consumer compliance and AML examination projects as a Managing Examiner in the Federal Reserve System; managing internal compliance functions for Capital One Corporation and for Clayton Bank and Trust, a $600 million community bank located in Knoxville, Tennessee; and leading specialized groups for AML compliance management with Western Union Financial Services, Inc., and First Data Corporation. She has gained valuable perspective by serving the industry in consulting roles as Principal, Director, and VP - Bank Compliance Services for Fortner, Bayens, Levkulich & Garrison, P.C., in Denver, CO; as SVP, Ascella Compliance, Washington, DC; and, now, as VP, Chartwell Compliance, Bethesda, MD. Ms. Thorson is a veteran and served in the U.S. Army for 11 years as a military paralegal and law office manager.
