ICBA encouraged senators to advance the nomination of FDIC Acting Chairman Travis Hill to serve as FDIC chairman.

Details: In a letter to Senate Banking Committee leaders ahead of tomorrow’s nomination hearing, ICBA expressed support for Hill’s nomination, citing his distinguished career and understanding of the importance of community banks in supporting local communities.

Statement: In a national news release, ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey said Hill is well prepared to deal with numerous policy questions, including advancing tiered regulation, challenges to the separation of banking and commerce, and ensuring any deposit insurance reforms promote depositor confidence and curb too-big-to-fail.

Background: President Donald Trump earlier this month nominated Hill to be FDIC chairman. Hill has served as acting chairman since January and was previously sworn in as vice chairman in January 2023.

Hearing: The nomination hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. (Eastern time) tomorrow. A live feed will be available on the committee’s website.

Past ICBA Support: In a national news release earlier this month, Romero Rainey congratulated Hill on his nomination and encouraged swift confirmation by the Senate.
