USDA announces expedited disaster assistance for farmers


Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced that farmers who suffered eligible crop losses due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2024 can apply for $16 billion in assistance through the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced that farmers who suffered eligible crop losses due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2024 can apply for $16 billion in assistance through the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program.

Background: The U.S. Department of Agriculture in May announced a timeline for Disaster Assistance Program payments and launched a web page that allows interested parties to track the status of the USDA’s disaster assistance rollout.

ICBA View: ICBA strongly supported passage of disaster assistance to compensate producers for severe weather-related losses.
