Remote Check Deposit Capture Risk Toolkit

Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) continues to capture the imagination of bankers looking for low-cost solutions to serve customers with minimal expense.

Although 67 percent of community banks offer RDC , there is still significant growth potential with business customers*, and “consumer” and “mobile” versions of RDC are attracting more customers, developing a sound RDC strategy based on the bank’s stated objectives is key.

The 2012 Edition of ICBA’s popular RDC Risk Toolkit provides a blueprint for your RDC implementation or updating your RDC product. The toolkit contains major revisions on important considerations such as compliance policies, technical requirements, and security implications. The toolkit includes 12 Excel and Word documents that can be used as is or modified as needed to meet your community bank’s requirements. The Excel worksheets have fully functional calculations and formulas. New additions explored include:

• New section on the income and reduction in expenses from RDC
• Greatly expanded the in-house vs. outsource workbook to include income/saving section and an ROI calculation.
• Expanded the new RDC business customer checklist.
• New section on the options for destruction of the original check for business customers.
• New section on managing business customers.
• New Checklist for the review of existing RDC business customer.
• Expanded the section on internal controls to include destruction of the original check.
• Expanded the section on detection of duplicate checks including cross channel, time frame to check for dups and procedures when a dup is detected.
• Expanded the section on safeguarding deposit images and paper checks.
